A beautiful beginning

Comfort first.
Confidence follows.

Baby swimming is not about rushing a child to perform. It is about making water feel familiar while your little one is supported by the person they trust most—you.

Our instructors guide each parent and child through structured movement, simple holds, floating and gentle learning routines. Every pause, supported position and response from the baby informs the session.

We follow the child—not the clock.Progress happens at a pace that protects comfort and keeps the experience positive.

Our coaching approach

Recognised foundations.
A baby-led experience.

Our baby swimming programme follows Swim England learning principles together with Birthlight’s gentle, parent-and-baby approach to early experiences in water.

SWIM ENGLAND

Confidence before complexity

Progressive aquatic foundations, engagement and confidence are developed through age-appropriate coaching rather than rushed milestones.
BIRTHLIGHT

Baby-led and water-led

Gentle holds, parent–baby communication, guided movement and attention to each baby’s readiness support trust, connection and early aquatic learning.
No forced submersion. We observe each baby’s cues, respect hesitation and progress only when parent and child are comfortable.

Swim England and Birthlight are independent third-party organisations. These references describe the methods and principles we follow and do not claim organisational accreditation unless separately confirmed.

Benefits of baby swimming

What early water sessions
help develop.

The aim is gradual aquatic learning with the parent present. Each session supports familiarity, guided movement, communication and foundations for future swimming instruction.

Learning begins with trust

Gentle support and careful observation help parent and baby build familiarity with the water together.
01

Water familiarity

Repeated, calm exposure helps the pool environment become more familiar.

02

Early movement

Guided floating and supported movement introduce balance, body awareness and coordination.

03

Parent confidence

Parents learn appropriate holds, positioning and ways to respond to their baby’s cues.

04

Communication & trust

Close observation and responsive guidance strengthen communication during the session.

05

Sensory awareness

Temperature, buoyancy and water resistance introduce new sensations in a supported setting.

06

Future foundations

Early aquatic experiences prepare familiarity and movement patterns for later swimming sessions.

Questions, answered

Feel prepared
before the first splash.

Clear answers make a new experience easier for everyone.

Does a parent enter the pool?
Yes. One parent or guardian participates directly and supports the child throughout the session.
What if my child cries or feels unsure?
That is completely normal. Your instructor works at your child’s pace, and pausing or stepping out is always okay.
How are groups selected?
Reception considers age, previous water experience, group suitability and current availability. An enquiry does not guarantee placement.
Does baby swimming make a child “water safe”?
No class can make a baby water safe. Sessions build familiarity and age-appropriate foundations, while close adult supervision remains essential around water.
When should a child not participate?
When your child is unwell, it is best to postpone the lesson. For specific health or suitability concerns, consult your paediatrician before participating.
